Sitting Elbow Height

The height from the sitting surface to the elbow.

SittingElbowHeight

How to measure

Application

Used in desk, armrest, and keyboard tray design to position work surfaces at the correct height for seated users.

Posture

Sit upright with the upper arm hanging naturally and the elbow bent to 90°.

Landmark

Measured from the seat surface to the bottom of the elbow.

Tool

Tape measure.

Common mistake

Resting the elbow on a surface before measuring raises it artificially and inflates the result.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
